We develop personal-care products that are as organic and fair trade as possible. We never use synthetic detergent-based foaming agents or preservatives. Sometimes this means finding suitable natural alternatives to common synthetic ingredients, such as Shikakai, an ancient Indian seed pod extract that has worked wonders on skin and hair for millennia.
The sugar in this soap acts as a natural humectant, pulling moisture back into the skin-keeps your skin hydrated, super-soft and smooth-gives the soap a wonderful caramel aroma and color! Blended with organic shikakai powder, organic grape juice and our coconut-olive-hemp-jojoba castile soap base to nourish-cleanse-moisturize-soothe face-underarms-legs!
Organic Body and Hair Care in One Bottle
Our Fair Trade & Organic Pump Soaps are excellent for washing hands and face-place by your sink or in the shower! The organic shikakai powder and organic sugar in this soap not only make it an ideal facial cleanser, but also perfect for washing hair. When using any of our soaps to wash your hair, we recommend you follow up with a lightly acidic conditioning rinse, such as diluted apple cider vinegar.

Organic Fair Trade Sugar leaves skin hydrated and smooth; gives our soaps their caramel aroma and color and keeps them from clogging. Fairly traded to support farmers, producers and their communities!
Organic Shikakai imparts mild smoothness to the soap's lather, gently cleanses skin and conditions hair. Shikakai comes from the seed pods of the small South Asian tree Acacia Concinna and has been used in India for hair and body care for over 1,000 years.
Organic White Grape Juice has complex sugars that nourish the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Together with organic sugar, it acts as a humectant and helps skin cells retain moisture.
Organic Fair Trade Olive Oil gives our soaps their velvety smoothness. To honor the peace the olive tree symbolizes, we source our oil from both Palestinian and Israeli growers: Canaan Fair Trade, founded by Palestinians who support peaceful co-existence and see profitable olive farming as away of improving Palestinians economic situation; the Jewish-Israeli Strauss family; and Fair Trade Sindyanna, run by Jewish and Arab women in Israel.
Organic Fair Trade Coconut Oil creates a rich cleansing lather. Our coconut oil comes from our Serendipol project in Sri Lanka, where organic compost keeps the soil fertile, every family farmer and worker is paid a fair price and the Fair Trade premium funds community needs such as medical equipment for local hospitals.
Organic Hemp Oil is in all our soaps! Hemp oil mirror our skin's natural oils-its perfect balance of essential fatty acids makes our soaps smoother, less drying. One of the earth's most versatile and sustainable crops-hemp thrives in many climates, grows quickly, attracts pollinators ad has the potential to sequester carbon. Dr. Bronner's has worked tirelessly to make hemp cultivation legal in the US.
Organic Fair Trade Palm Kernel Oil comes from sustainable small farms in Ecuador. No rainforest habitat or wildlife is harmed, and no new deforestation occurs due to oil palm farming - rather care is taken to conserve and restore the local ecosystem.

Dr Bronner's was founded in 1948 by Emanuel Bronner (1908-1997), a third-generation German-Jewish soapmaker from Heilbronn, Germany. His grandparents invented the first liquid castile soap in the late 1800s. Emanuel immigrated to the US in 1929 to escape Nazi persecution, tragically losing his parents in the Holocaust. The company is now run by his grandsons David and Michael Bronner.
